On October 24 The Employers’ Association, a not-for-profit service organization serving the employer community in 60 counties throughout Illinois and bordering communities in Iowa, Missouri and Wisconsin, awarded Perot Systems’ eServ unit the prestigious “Employer of the Year” award. The award was presented to James Richmond, president, eServ, during the Employers’ Association Conference and 90th Annual Meeting. The event was also attended by Alyssa Brucks, Jill Donahue and Scott Miller, all of eServ.

The award recognizes Illinois employers that acknowledge people as their greatest asset. In order to be considered for the award, employers had to meet the following criteria: facilitate effective and open communication, recognize the value of employee input, encourage employee development, demonstrate work/life balance and promote a positive culture. In addition, employers had to define a business problem and present the resolution through a specific people practice.

eServ won in the company category of “Greater than 250 Employees.” Some of the best practices that helped secure the win are: the eSc (Employee Service Center which received a 90% satisfaction rating in 2006), concierge services for associates, innovative recognition programs, numerous social and community programs (Junior Achievement, weight loss programs, etc.), and a company culture focused on flexibility.
